I am sick at heart

--I am sick at heart,
When I behold--Seyton, I say! --This push
Will cheer me ever, or disseat me now.
I have lived long enough: my way of life
Is fall'n into the sear, the yellow leaf;
And that which should accompany old age,
As honour, love, obedience, troops of friends,
I must not look to have; but, in their stead,
Curses, not loud but deep, mouth-honour, breath,
Which the poor heart would fain deny, and dare not.

Macbeth - William Shakespeare

Comments:
This is a soliloquy by Macbeth by the end of the play to his servant, Seyton.

These lines express what I feel @ the moment.

this takes me back to another quote which probably lead to this one

"Had I but died an hour before this chance, I had lived a blessed time; for, from this instant, there's nothing serious in mortality; all is but toys: renown, and grace, is dead; the wine of life is drawn, and the mere lees is left this vault to brag of." Macbeth

Maat: guess we need a Macbeth-blogo forum to remember and discuss this play's most memorable quotes!

Me3allem Kelma (quoted from Epi's "Salamtro"): happy I did let you remember this extraordinarily perfect play!

Epi: I disagree with you to "the last syllable of recorded time", it's just the candle "should have died hereafter", but believe me this comment is not written by "an idiot" telling his bloggy life, which is full of "sound and fury", but unfortunately, "signifying nothing"!!

Best reply I've ever read :D

IMHO, I believe Macbeth has the best soliloquies I've ever read. Although am not a fan of this play in particular, Lady Macbeth used to haunt me in my dreams :(
